MTCSWE Training

MTCSWE (MikroTik Certified Switching Engineer)

The abbreviation stands for MikroTik Certified Switching Engineer. This training includes VLANs (QinQ), switch chip use (including HW-Offload) and all STP options including RSTP and MSTP. You will also learn about MTU, PoE, Bonding and SwOS, the counterpart of Router OS. During the training you will have access to a CRS326 and two hAP Lites. With that you will run the many labs. In addition, the following topics are covered in detail:

  • MTU/L2MTU/L3MTU/Jumbo frames en MTU issues
  • 802.1Q en 802.1ad (VLAN/QinQ), Port based, MAC based, Protocol based
  • Bridge VLAN filtering
  • (R)STP, MSTP, Regions, port path cost, BPDU
  • Bonding, LACP
  • 802.1p QoS
  • Traffic shaping in switch chip
  • IGMP/DHCP snooping, storm control
  • Layer 2 firewall
  • ARP modes, 802.1X, Port security, ACL
  • PoE
  • SwOS

The training is very versatile and the accompanying exam is a challenge. It is a requirement to have successfully passed MTCNA. However, the advice is that you also have a lot of practical experience with Mikrotik in addition to MTCNA. If you have no experience (on Mikrotik or another platform) with the above topics, then this training may be a bit too ambitious.
